What to do during extreme heat or heatwave 

I drink plenty of water and...:

  • I wear light and loose-fitting clothes
  • I wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses
  • I use a high-SPF sunscreen about 30 minutes before going out
  • I avoid going out between 1 pm-4 pm
  • I keep my home cool and shaded
  • I stay in cool or air-conditioned places as long as possible
  • I take cold showers frequently
  • I do not exercise vigorously
  • I do not let infants, children, or pets into a parked car, not even if the windows are open
  • When at work, I am always on alert for myself and my colleagues
  • I use very few heat-emitting electrical appliances in my kitchen

What to do and what to avoid during hot summer days or heatwave

(tips for the elderly)

I moisten my face several times a day and...:

  • I don't go out during heatwave hours
  • I stay in cool or air-conditioned rooms
  • I keep my home cool and shaded
  • I eat fruits, vegetables, and soups
  • I drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day.
  • I do not consume alcohol
  • I keep people around me informed of my health condition
